Where projects slip

Four failures that show up after the quote

Most of these do not appear in the RFQ. They appear on the drawing review, the first article, or the dock.

01

Wall thickness collapses on the second batch

A 1.2 mm wall holds on the first article, then thins once the cutter wears and the shop speeds up. By batch three the mating face no longer seats and the assembly leaks. We measure wall thickness in process, not just at final inspection.

02

The 3-axis quote needed a 5-axis part

Undercuts and angled ports cannot be reached from three directions. A shop that quoted 3-axis pricing comes back with a redesigned part or a hand-finishing step. Both cost you weeks and change the drawing.

03

Tolerance stack blows past the fit

Two parts each held at ±0.05 mm can stack to ±0.1 mm at the joint. On a bearing bore or a spigot that means press fits that bind or rattle. The fix starts at the drawing, not the machine.

04

Surface finish changes between lots

Ra drifts after anodizing or bead blasting, and the cosmetic panel no longer matches the sample. Finish is a process parameter, not a checkbox. We specify grit, bath and masking before the first cut.

Multi-axis work

5-axis and mill-turn reach what 3-axis cannot

Angled ports, undercuts and sculpted pockets need the tool to approach from more than three directions. Our 16 simultaneous 5-axis centers and 16 mill-turn centers cut those features in one setup, so the datum never moves between operations.

That matters on parts like impellers, manifolds, surgical handles and robot end-effectors. When a feature can only be reached by repositioning the part four times, the stack-up grows with every re-clamp.

Tolerance control

±0.005 mm is a process, not a promise

Holding tight tolerance across a run means controlling temperature, tool wear and fixturing, not just buying a good machine. We check raw material before cutting, monitor critical dimensions in process, and run 100% inspection before shipment.

We also tell you when a feature cannot hold the number you asked for. A deep bore at 20:1 length-to-diameter will drift with tool deflection. Better to hear that in the DFM report than at the first article.

What we run

Machining services under one roof

Metal cutting, finishing and prototyping from the same plant.

01

5 Axis CNC Machining

Simultaneous 5-axis for angled features, sculpted surfaces and parts that would need four setups otherwise.

02

CNC Milling & Turning

3-axis, 4-axis and mill-turn centers covering flat plates to turned shafts with cross-drilled holes.

03

Rapid Prototyping

One-off and small-batch metal parts, no minimum order quantity, shipped in 3–5 days after cutting starts.

04

Part Surface Finishing

Anodizing, plating, powder coating, bead blasting and laser marking, specified before the first cut.

05

Sheet Metal Fabrication

Enclosures, brackets and chassis when the part is better folded than cut from solid.

06

Metal Die Casting

For higher volumes where a casting plus finish machining beats cutting the whole shape from bar.

FAQs

Questions engineers ask before the first cut

What file formats do you accept for quoting?

Send STEP, STP, IGS or X-T for 3D, and DXF, DWG, PDF or TIF for 2D drawings. We work in SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer and AutoCAD on our side.

A 3D model plus a 2D drawing with critical dimensions and finish callouts gives the most accurate quote. If you only have a model, we will flag the dimensions that need a tolerance call.

How tight a tolerance can you actually hold?

±0.005 mm is achievable on features we agree on during DFM review. It depends on material, feature geometry and how many setups the part needs.

Deep bores, thin walls and long unsupported sections will drift. We tell you which features cannot hold the number before cutting starts, not after.

When should a part go to 5-axis instead of 3-axis?

Go 5-axis when a feature cannot be reached from three directions, or when re-fixturing the part three or four times would push the tolerance stack past the fit.

If the part is a flat plate with drilled holes, 3-axis is faster and cheaper. There is no reason to pay for multi-axis work you do not need.

What surface finishes are available?

Anodizing in clear, color, hardcoat and conductive grades. Electroless nickel, zinc, silver and gold plating. Powder coating and black oxide.

Bead blasting, tumbling, brushing and polishing. Laser marking and engraving with a minimum character height of 1.5 mm.

How do you handle confidentiality?

Uploads are secure and confidential. We can sign an NDA before you send drawings.

Your files are used for quoting and manufacturing only. They are not shared outside the project.

What is the lead time from upload to shipped parts?

Quotation and free DFM analysis come back within 12 hours. Production can start within 24 hours after you approve.

Most parts ship in 3–5 days. The historical late-delivery probability is below 2%. Longer times apply when finishing or outsourced treatments are involved.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No minimum order quantity. We run from one prototype to 10,000+ part runs.

For a single part, expect to pay for setup time, since programming and fixturing do not shrink with batch size. That cost is spread across the run as quantity grows.

What inspection data comes with the parts?

Every order gets 100% inspection before shipment, covering raw material check, in-process monitoring and final inspection.

Measurement reports from CMM, tool microscope, height gauges and roughness equipment are available on request. Ask for them at the quote stage so we build the measuring time into the plan.
