The supplier quotes a shape, not a part
A STEP file alone says nothing about which faces are critical, where the datum is, or what finish is acceptable. The shop guesses, the price comes back low, and the first article fails inspection.
Send a 3D model and a 2D drawing. We read both, flag anything that cannot be cut, and return a priced quotation with a free DFM analysis within 12 hours. No minimum order quantity.

Most delays are caused by missing information, not by machine capacity.
A STEP file alone says nothing about which faces are critical, where the datum is, or what finish is acceptable. The shop guesses, the price comes back low, and the first article fails inspection.
You send files on a Monday, hear nothing, follow up on Friday, and get a number the following week. Your own customer has already moved the design freeze date twice by then.
A 0.4 mm internal corner needs a 0.4 mm cutter, run slowly, in a deep pocket. Nobody explains that the corner radius, not the part size, is what drives the price up.
Setup, tooling, and inspection appear as line items only after the PO is signed. The original comparison between two suppliers was never on the same basis.
Two files, one short message, one priced quote.

The 3D model defines geometry. The 2D drawing defines everything the model cannot carry: tolerances, datums, surface finish, thread class, and heat treatment. Send both and we do not have to assume anything.
If you only have a model, send it anyway. We will mark the dimensions that need a tolerance call and ask before quoting. That exchange usually takes one round of email, not a week.

An engineer opens the file and checks it against the machines that will run it. Deep pockets, thin walls, tool reach, and tolerance stacking get flagged first, because those decide whether the part can be made at all on a 3-axis mill or needs a 5-axis setup.
The feedback comes back with the quotation. If a small change removes a second setup or a custom cutter, we say so and price both versions.
Send what you have. Missing items get one question, not a rejection.
| Input | What we read from it | If it is missing |
|---|---|---|
| STEP / STP | Full 3D geometry and feature shapes | Quote is delayed, we ask for a model |
| 2D PDF drawing | Tolerances, datums, finish, notes | We mark assumed tolerances for approval |
| DXF | Sheet metal flat pattern and bend lines | Laser cutting cannot be priced |
| Quantity and target date | Batch size, setup amortization, scheduling | We quote at one piece and at volume |
| Material grade | Stock cost and machinability | We propose a grade and price it |
One request can cover several processes if the part needs them.
Simultaneous 5-axis centers for contoured surfaces, deep cavities, and parts that would need four setups on a 3-axis machine.
27 three-axis machines, 12 four-axis mills, and 16 mill-turn centers for turned parts with milled features.
For fit checks before the design freezes. Same file, quoted alongside the machined version so you can compare.
Laser cutting, bending, and welding for brackets and enclosures. Send DXF plus a PDF for bend direction.
Anodizing, plating, powder coating, bead blasting, and laser marking. Marking needs 1.5 mm minimum character height.
100% inspection before shipment. Raw material check, in-process monitoring, final inspection. Reports on request.
These are the limits the price is built on.
| Item | Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum part size | 4,000 mm | Larger travel: 4,000 × 400 × 150 mm |
| Tolerance | ±0.005 mm | Stated per dimension on the drawing |
| Surface finish | Ra 0.2–3.2 μm | As-machined to fine finish |
| Minimum order | No MOQ | One prototype to 10,000+ parts |
| Quotation turnaround | 12 hours | Includes free DFM analysis |
| Production start | 24 hours | After PO and material confirmation |
A price is only useful if you can act on it.
The price and the manufacturability notes arrive together. No separate engineering request, no second wait.
We say which features hold the tight number and which are held looser, instead of quoting one blanket figure.
One prototype and a 10,000 part run go through the same quoting form. Volume pricing is offered, not required.
16 simultaneous 5-axis centers, 12 four-axis mills, 27 three-axis machines, 16 mill-turn centers.
ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016, ISO 13485:2016, and ISO 27001:2022 cover quality and data handling.
Uploads are secure and confidential. A non-disclosure agreement can be signed before files are shared.

Housing and bracket families quoted at volume with IATF 16949:2016 process control.

Contoured structural parts priced on 5-axis centers to cut setup count.

Joint housings and link arms quoted with mill-turn centers for one-setup turning.

Small stainless and titanium parts priced under ISO 13485:2016 with inspection reports.
A STEP or STP model, a 2D PDF drawing with tolerances and finish, the quantity, and the material grade. That is enough for a firm price.
If the drawing is missing, send the model and we will list the dimensions we need to assume and ask you to confirm them.
Quotation and free DFM analysis come back within 12 hours. Production can start within 24 hours after the PO and material are confirmed.
Parts normally ship in 3–5 days. The 12-hour figure covers quoting, not manufacturing.
No. We quote from one prototype to 10,000+ part runs. The first piece usually costs more per unit because setup is not amortized.
If you expect volume later, tell us and we will price both quantities in the same quotation.
STP, STEP, IGES, X_T, SLDPRT, and SAT for 3D geometry. PDF for drawings. DXF for sheet metal flat patterns.
We do not quote from an STL alone. It carries no tolerance or feature information, so the price would be a guess.
Yes. A non-disclosure agreement can be signed before any file is uploaded. Uploads are secure and confidential either way.
If your own NDA template is required, send it and we will review it before the first exchange.
Tight tolerances on large features, deep pockets with small corner radii, cosmetic surfaces, and extra setups. A part that needs four setups costs more than the same part held in one.
Material matters too. Titanium and Inconel cut slower than 6061 aluminium and wear tooling faster.
They appear as separate lines in the same quotation, so you can see what anodizing or plating adds. Inspection is included as standard.
Laser marking needs a minimum character height of 1.5 mm. Smaller text will not read cleanly.
Yes. Send the files and describe how the part is used. Fit, load direction, and mating parts often explain a tolerance that looks arbitrary on the drawing.
If the geometry cannot be machined as drawn, the DFM notes will say which feature causes the problem and what change removes it.
Upload a model and a drawing. An engineer reviews both and returns a priced quotation with DFM notes within 12 hours.
